The following table is a guideline for applying limestone to achieve a target pH of 6.5.

For example, if you have a yard that is 40ft x 25ft, and your starting pH was 5.4 or better, and your soil is sandy, you would want to apply 25lbs to achieve a pH of 6.5.

Optimum pH level is not the same for all plants. A list of common crops and their recommended pH range is available here.
Mosher's Limestone will not burn, and can be spread at any time. Two applications per year, in the spring and fall, are recommended.
Drop style spreaders are more suitable than broadcast spreaders because they spread more evenly.
When applying, it is best to make two applications with the second perpendicular to the first. This ensures an even coat with no missed areas on your lawn.
Mosher's Easy Spread Pelletized limestone is less dusty and releases more quickly into the soil because it is ground finer than regular limestone.
